LAWS OF THE MIND – Mental Effect

Success Mindset

May 25, 2017

This law says that every thought creates a measurable effect in the body.

Your thoughts affect all your body functions, whether you want to believe this or not, that’s the way it is. Worry can usually be felt in the stomach. Worry thoughts trigger chemical changes in the stomach that eventually lead to ulcers if this state continues unabated.

Anger thoughts stimulate your adrenal glands and increased adrenaline in the bloodstream causes many physical effects. Anxiety and fear thoughts change the pulse rate. Thoughts of hunger and thirst thoughts affect your stomach and salivary glands. Sexual thoughts affect your sex organs.

Our personal body chemistry is guided and triggered by our thoughts and emotions. You can make yourself sick, healthy, poor, wealthy, effective, useless, happy and sad by your habitual thinking. People believe it’s just a saying and do not realize that it is a law that you become what you dwell upon. In essence, you are what you think.

Depending on how you use it, electricity can be good or bad. The law of electricity must be obeyed before it can become man’s good servant. When handled ignorantly, it becomes man’s deadly enemy. It’s the same with the laws of nature.

The best example that can be used to illustrate this law is the Lemon Test. Read the following instruction a couple of times until you have committed the short process to memory and then, close your eyes and see what happens:

Imagine that you are in your kitchen. Look around you and notice everything in the room. Slowly work your way to the refrigerator, noticing everything and the colours along the way. Notice which way the door to the refrigerator opens. Open the door and notice a lemon on the shelf right in front of you.

Look at a lemon. Feel it. Pick it up, smell it and bring it to the cutting board next to the sink. Pick up the sharp knife that’s on the cutting board. Slice the bright, yellow lemon in half. See the juices flowing from the lemon, bringing it to your mouth, and then squeeze some of the juice onto your tongue. Did you salivate? Did your mouth pucker? Of course! Your thoughts affect your body in a big way.

It is well known that if you think about something that scares you, your heart rate will increase and your palms might even sweat. This is what causes panic attacks, high blood pressure, stress, cancer, diabetes, etc. This is also how the power of positive thinking works. Good thoughts have good effects on your body. If you deliberately think about relaxing in a hammock with a nice drink in your hand, your blood pressure will gradually decrease.

As a matter of fact, every thought lies somewhere between these two extremes and this law says that every thought causes some sort of measurable physical reaction – even if you are not consciously aware of it.
